Bournvita Burfi
I recently had a rendezvous with Namita Devidayal and the memories of her book Aftertaste came to me. Rightly named so it left an aftertaste in my mouth of one of my most favorite tastes - Bournvita. As a kid I couldn’t drink a glass of milk without the support of this delicious thing. Eaten dry and as chunks in spoon it tasted delicious. Horlicks and Cerelac lovers are nothing in front of Bournvita lovers.
We used to sneak out spoonfuls all the time but mom would find out. Simply due to the stickiness in bournvita. It took only a drop of water for the thing to solidify in big chunks, all that deliciousness wasted away.
But now you can use it to make bournvita burfi. I have som many lovely stories of my husband trying to find it for me and eventually cooking it. Recently we got this made and it was more of Bournvita fudge which was equally delicious and finger licking good. 😋
