Hauz Khaz: Bahut Khas hai

After roaming the streets of Bombay, lets take you to Delhi. Every city has its share of markets but Delhi has more than its share and not to forget all sorts - there are vintage ones like Hauz Khas or Chandani Chowk, mass budget ones like Lajpat market or Sarojini market, classy Cannaught Place or Khan Market, branded and expensive ones like Greater Kailash or South Extension.. and many others.

6 months back when I visited Delhi, I went for a quick round of Hauz Khas market. In its vintage aura and quaint shops you can find many little interesting things - so just walk around.

Vintage film posters - Mughleazam, Chalti ka naam gaadi, Navrang and all other classics.
Vintage Travel tags of hotels, world cities and airlines. If you are a traveler and love to flaunt it then pick some to adorn your suitcases. You bags will make a very unique fashion statement.
Vintage advertisements and trays of beedi-cigs, soft drinks, soaps and other local products. I could actually identify the Red n White and Lux print ads from my childhood. Giving metal trays, tin boxes was such a fashion before 80s for corporates and advertisers and free gifts were a great way to attract middle class consumers.
A good collection of old edition books leather bound adding to the vintage look and feel. Although be careful cos the book that I liked had many tiny holes in it. I left it fearing the infestation spreading to my other books.

Overall its a treasure trove.. BUT all that shines is not Gold. So only if you have the eye for the real then Hauz Khas is the place for you.

Delhi has its lot of heritage places. A lot of Mughal architecture and the taste of Punjabi food is a deadly combination if u r planning to visit Delhi.
