Sun nd Shade @ Sajan
This blog has been long due but I have not been able to get it out!!. So here it is...
New Year celebrations are generally tagged with big parties, loud music, gulping drinks, dancing, and cheering to bring in the rocking next year.. and all our New Year celebration ideas ended with NOs for the reason "Been there done that"..
New Year celebrations are generally tagged with big parties, loud music, gulping drinks, dancing, and cheering to bring in the rocking next year.. and all our New Year celebration ideas ended with NOs for the reason "Been there done that"..
We wanted it to be a lil different this year. Something more peaceful and calm. A reclusive and silent time to reflect on the year gone by and the year coming...and what could be more serene than closer to Nature..
So here is a quick look to our little rendevous with nature at Sajan a small village just 2 hrs from Mumbai..
Though Mumbai outskirts are the best during Monsoons but this time of the year has its own treasures to offer - Sun Shine a rare thing in Mumbai's concrete jungle.. So ignoring the dry, dusty, shining, brown weather we headed out to get a lot of warm sun and even cooler shades..
The reason I miss living in North India is to lie on a cot in the backyard of the house enjoying the warmth of the winter Sun and eating hot paranthas with melting home-made white butter on top. As the day passes the light of the Sun slowly moves and the cot also shifts with the light till the edge of the yard.. ooohhh I so miss those cosy winter days..
I owe my education and clearing all my exams to the winter Sun, just lying there with your book - the best corner of the house in the winters.
This holiday just gave me all the time and place to enjoy the warmth of a cosy winter Sun, sitting and swinging in the lovely warm hammock!! We read, slept, ate, chatted, enjoyed bonfire, played dumb-charades all on the hammock!
The place had a perfect balance between the yellow and green or the Sun and Shade.
By the way have you ever thought what color is a shadow is it black or grey...or just the color of the thing it falls on...
The lovely walk through the huge green trees and rows of plants shading you...
rest under the green shade of the father tree or swing and play with nature as it flows from tree to tree creating a maze of a wood vine
a classy wooden signage pointing to the tree top houses... how nice & intriguing to stay in these cosy tree tops... especially the Coccoon rooms
here is the full picture of a Tree top house nested amongst the trees.. the stairs are not traditional ladder style but they do just fine.. we all can do with some luxury along with some authentic nature living...
While I was scampering the place for some nice pictures - I found this lovely cosy little house in a corner which seemed more inviting than the aesthetic tree top shacks .
Here take a peek at this...
the best part was the entrance - note the lovely entwined green leafy roof, a very unique V-shaped tree or should I say trees.. a narrow path lined with green plants on both sides..
further down you can see swings at both sides of the trees.. now have you ever seen two swings at the entrance of any house.. so small so cute and don't even take any space .. adding such charm to the place
when you visit such a cosy home you start imagining who would have lived here, who all were in their family - they must have a child infact two what with two swings.... this house was definitely not for the guests...
I felt like Goldilocks entering the house of three Bears while they were away...
if hammock was the warm corner for us to bask in the sun then this was the coolest corner where we gathered at noon to avoid the hottest time of the day. The simple swing, pot of cold water and marble shelf to rest and read.
So here's an ode to a lovely new year... I hope and wish I can travel more and further than I have.. in this year

Its for a really silly reason that I was missing in action from goodreads. You will hear from me pretty soon.
But you just count yourself lucky, you are far better off than other people(for e.g me).
My posts are shelved in drafts folder. For some reason I cant put finishing touches on them, some are half written and some are even out of the context altogether.Sometimes I find myself questioning my way of saying things. Guess have to be more open and try and be myself in a public forum.
If I continue this way,in the end I will only have a single post for each month.
